U14 SOD CUP

Approx. Length: 10hrs / week Suggested Ratio: Ski 7:1 Birth Year: 2006 - 2007

The U14 SOD Cup program continues to develop overall skills through the ‘FUNdamentals’ of skiing, (Alpine Canada Long Term Skier Development Plan – Phases of Skier Essentials, Learn to Train and Learn to Race). The program focuses on overall skiing skills and racing skills along with the introduction of performance on demand. This age group will participate in 4-5 races scheduled by Alpine Ontario. All races will be in the Collingwood area. Participants should be a graduate of the U12 program or an exceptional recreational skier, confident skiing on varied terrain and with speed.

Program participants must be a Chicopee Member for the 2019/2020 season (Alpine Ontario regulations). In addition, all U14 SOD Cup athletes must register online at: http://www.alpineontario.ca to participate in league racing and additional camps and events offered by Alpine Ontario. All racers must wear a hard-earned helmet with a FIS label affixed in a non-removable way at the back of the helmet in a location which is and shall remain visible. Equipment that we strongly recommended for U14 racers includes: slalom and giant slalom event specific skis, back protectors for speed races, slalom gear for clearing gates. Dryland Training: Chicopee Racing Dryland Training will run from September 22nd – November 17th (no training on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 13th). The dryland training series is an opportunity for participants to interact with other racers and coaches in the program and help improve their fitness base prior to getting on the snow. We’ll work on developing: Fundamental Movement Skills, agility, balance, coordination, strength, flexibility and stamina in relation to the athletes Windows of Trainability. All sessions are outside at Chicopee in all weather conditions.

Advanced:
The student is an experienced and competent skier. He/she has received formal instruction, knows and understands the Alpine Responsibility Code and can demonstrate ability at an advanced level.

Note: Program starts Sunday, January 5th, 2020, and runs for 8.5 weeks.
