U12 SOD Cup

Approx. Length: 6hrs / week + 8hrs Suggested Ratio: Ski 7:1 Birth Year: 2007 - 2008

The U12 Entry Level program gives skiers an introduction to racing by providing them with the ‘FUNdamentals’ of skiing as defined in the Alpine Canada (ACA) Long Term Skier Development (LTSD) Plan – Phases of Skier Essentials and Learn to Train. The program is intended to foster the development of young athletes using the Alpine Canada (ACA) Snow Stars Program. U12 SOD Cup competitions are scheduled by Alpine Ontario (AOA) and will focus on the development of ski racing skills while continuing to develop overall skiing skills. Participants should be a graduate of the U10 Program, All-Stars Program or an exceptional recreational skier with the ability to ski any hill and ride any lift at Chicopee with confidence.

Program participants must be a Chicopee Member for the 18 / 19 season as per Alpine Ontario (AOA) rules and regulations. All U12 SOD Cup athletes must register online via their website at: http://www.alpineontario.ca to participate in league racing and any AOA events or camps. All racers must wear a hard eared helmet.

Dryland Training: Chicopee Racing Dryland Training will run for 8 Sunday’s starting on September 23rd and will run through to November 18th from 10 am – 12 noon, (NOT including Thanksgiving Sunday, October 7th). The dryland training series is an opportunity for racers to interact with other racers and coaches in the program and to help improve their fitness base prior to getting on the snow. We’ll work on developing: Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS), agility, balance, coordination, strength, flexibility and stamina in relation to the athletes Windows of Trainability. All sessions are outside on the Chicopee property in all weather conditions. Please come dressed in weather appropriate athletic attire and remember a water bottle!

Program Ability Level:

Advanced:
The student is an experienced and competent skier. He/she has received formal instruction, knows and understands the Alpine Responsibility Code and can demonstrate ability at an advanced level.

Note: Programs will start on Saturday, January 5th, 2019, and run for 8 weeks. Program is not subject to HST.
