U12 SOD Cup

Approx. Length: 8hrs / week Suggested Ratio: Ski 7:1 Birth Year: 2008 - 2009

The U12 SOD Cup program introduces skiers to racing skills and events through the ‘FUNdamentals’ of skiing, (Alpine Canada Long Term Skier Development Plan – Phases of Skier Essentials and Learn to Train). Along with the Snow Stars program we focus on the development of overall skiing skills and introduction of racing skills and competition. This age group will participate in 4 regionalized races that are scheduled by Alpine Ontario.

Participants should be a graduate of the U10 program, All-Stars program or be an exceptional recreational skier with the ability to ski any hill and ride any lift at Chicopee with confidence.

Program participants must be a Chicopee Member for the 2019/2020 season (Alpine Ontario regulations). In addition, all U12 SOD Cup athletes must register online at to participate in league racing and additional camps and events offered by Alpine Ontario. All racers must wear a hard eared helmet.

Dryland Training: Chicopee Racing Dryland Training will run from September 22nd – November 17th (no training on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 13th). The dryland training series is an opportunity for participants to interact with other racers and coaches in the program and help improve their fitness base prior to getting on the snow. We’ll work on developing: Fundamental Movement Skills, agility, balance, coordination, strength, flexibility and stamina in relation to the athletes Windows of Trainability. All sessions are outside at Chicopee in all weather conditions.

Program Ability Level:

The student is an experienced and competent skier. He/she has received formal instruction, knows and understands the Alpine Responsibility Code and can demonstrate ability at an advanced level.

Note: Program starts Saturday, January 4th, 2020, and runs for 8.5 weeks.
