Chicopee Progressive Youth Tennis Lessons

Chicopee Progressive Tennis Program is a development tool to allow young children (7-12 years old) to improve their overall tennis skills faster so they can transition to the regulation courts with ease.

Session 1: Wednesdays June 7 - 28, or Thursdays - June 8 - 29 (SOLD OUT!)
Session 2: Wednesdays July 5 - 26, or Thursdays - July 6 - 27
Session 3: Wednesdays August 9 - 30, or Thursdays - August 10 - 31

Red Level

This program introduces the foundational skills of tennis with an oversized low compression ball on a smaller court. Players learn basic rally, serve and net play skills along with activities that build tennis specific coordination. Rules of play and "I am a good sport" behaviours are also introduced.

Program includes: 4 lessons. $59

Wednesdays or Thursdays from 5:00pm - 5:50pm

Orange Level

Orange tennis is played on a 3/4 size court with a low compression ball. Players learn how to serve, rally, score and play at the net. "I am a good sport" behaviours are reinforced. Players learn to maintain a rally when receiving more challenging shots, serve with improved placement, approach the net and place volleys.

Program includes: 4 lessons. $59

Wednesdays or Thursdays from 6:00pm - 6:50pm

Green Level

Players learn to serve, rally, score and play at net in singles and doubles on a regulation sized court with a low compression transition ball. Lessons take players through a progression of skill building activities that speed learning. Players learn to rally with improved direction and height control, serve with better power and control, return serves, and approach and play net with volleys and overhands.

Program includes: 4 lessons. $59

Head Tennis Professional - Robert Rotaru

Robert was born in Romania on August 21, 1987. His family moved to Canada in 1995 when he was 8 years old. Robert’s father loved the sport of tennis and enrolled him to tennis lessons when he was 10 years old. His passion for the sport was ignited. After two years of determination and hard work Robert started playing tournaments. Robert made Team Ontario for the U14. His entire junior tennis career involved many hours of training on and off the court. In 2003 Robert won the Ilie Nastase Open tournament hosted by Chicopee Tennis Club. He finished his Junior career ranked in the top 5 in Canada. In 2005, Robert attended the University of Louisville (a Division 1 school) on a tennis scholarship. When he started, his team was ranked top 30 in the country. With his help the team managed to reach the top 12 in the country. Robert has achieved a doubles ranking of 33 in the USA. After finishing university in 2009, Robert started playing tennis professionally and has been ranked on the ATP Tour. He is currently ranked in the Top 10 in Ontario along with Milos Raonic, Frank Dancevic and Peter Polansky. Alongside Robert's competitive career, he has been coaching for the last 7 years, levels ranging from beginners to world ranked players.
